What we collect when you use this site, why, and the choices you have.
Last updated: August 2, 2026
This document is a working draft prepared for launch and is pending legal review.
1. The short version
The personal data we collect is what you give us when you create an account and build your profile, plus what you type into our newsletter and contact forms. We use it to run your account and to contact you about EngApex. We do not sell it, and we collect nothing else about you personally.
2. What we collect
Account & profile: when you create an account — your name, username, email address, and password (stored securely; we never see it in plain text), whether you're an individual or a corporate, and the role(s) you select (e.g. engineer, freelancer, consulting firm). If you build out your profile, also the profile details you choose to add — such as discipline, skills, experience, bio, photo, and contact details — to power your public profile and digital business card.
Newsletter: your email address.
Contact form: your name, email address, and message.
AI assistant conversations: if you use the ENGAPEX Assistant (the chat widget), we store the full conversation — both your messages and its replies — tied to a session for anonymous visitors, or to your account if you're signed in. If you rate a reply, we store that rating and any comment you add. This is separate from, and in addition to, the admin AI tools our own team uses internally.
We also record which page a signup or submission came from (a "source" tag) so we understand which audiences are joining.
3. How your data is stored
Account, profile, form, and AI conversation data are stored in our own Supabase-hosted database (region: Mumbai) and are accessible only to the EngApex team.
4. Why we collect it
To run your account and profile and to contact you about EngApex; to answer messages you send us; to understand, in aggregate, which roles and countries are most interested — which shapes where and how we launch the wider ecosystem; to operate and improve the AI assistant, including reviewing conversations for quality and, occasionally, to notice when a visitor is clearly a potential business contact (e.g. a recruiter or project owner) so our team can follow up — this happens silently and is never disclosed back to the visitor mid-conversation.
5. What we do NOT do
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not use advertising trackers. We do not build advertising profiles of you. The AI assistant never sees or uses your data for anything beyond answering you and the limited purposes above. If we ever add analytics, it will be privacy-friendly, cookie-free measurement of page visits (e.g. Plausible), and this policy will name it.
6. Retention
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active, or until you ask us to delete it. Newsletter entries are kept until launch communications are complete, or until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to resolve them. AI conversations are kept to improve the assistant and support our team's follow-up on genuine business inquiries; ask us to delete yours at any time using the contact below.
7. Your rights
You can ask at any time what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@engapex.com (placeholder — final contact address pending) and we will act on it.
8. Cookies & local storage
This site does not use tracking cookies. We use your browser’s local storage for one thing: remembering your language preference (English or Arabic). See the Cookie Policy for detail.
9. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes & contact
We will update this policy if our data practices change, and reflect it in the "Last updated" date. Questions: hello@engapex.com (placeholder — final contact address pending).
